Disney Interface

about

For my Interface Design class, we were asked to pick a university, theme park, or music festival to do an interface redesign. I’ve always liked going to Disney, and I thought that maybe one day I would be able to work there. Therefore, I decided to redesign Disney. I know and understand that I was very limited on the design because there are some aspects that are familiar to many people and didn’t want to lose that connectiveness. So now, the challenging part. What design am I going to create? I thought about how Disney would change their look for different occasions such as Christmas, Labor Day, their anniversary, etc. Then I thought about how Disney could continue their Labor Day design. I have family that is in the military and some of them enjoy going to Disney. But I think that it’s time for companies to give back to those who fought for their freedom. I needed to create a landing page. So, I made one that advertises a free meal ticket to soldiers that register. With their registration, they have access to a virtual military base. This is shown on the website and designed in an application format. With this online base, soldiers and veterans can stay connected with other soldiers, continue their physical training while utilizing the parks as a place for running trails, and find opportunities within the Disney company for jobs or help.

When picking the typeface and the color, I want to keep the Disney impression yet recognizable for soldiers as a safe place just for them. Because this is also for veterans, I wanted to have a vintage look to show this website and App are for them as well. I used an old paper image for the background and incorporated a darker red and blue for the USA colors. It’s a combination of old and new America with a Disney twist.
